My Time

My Time

Countless hours, countless miles on the pavement
graveled roads, pot holes, detours
thunderstorms sneak up to drench me
two hours of sunshine dries me out

The solitude is welcomed calm
speaking volumes to me
it’s Walden’s Pond
with no water nor life

The leaves scatter in the fall
graffiti shot from a canon
are they clapping for me?
I blast though upright and in control

Ravens watch me cautiously perched on
barbed wire, fences, stop signs
no humans I see
silence like an abandoned house

I am but a lone wolf
my partner each day Mother Earth
sun setting seeking shelter
I am alone but never lonely
